Bowaters Models Terms and Conditions
This page is to explain to you how the Bowaters Models service works and how it affects you the customer. Please note, by ordering one of our kits, you are agreeing to this information. If you have any questions, please contact us before you order your kit.

Making an Online purchase:-
You can purchase any of our kits by clicking the ‘Add to Cart’ button which is listed on the product page in question. This will then take you to your cart after which you can pay with either Paypal or google pay which will handle the transaction on our behalf. All payment methods accepted by Paypal can be used to purchase our kits. In addition to this, you can order by cheque through the mail with your order. Please note your order will not be processed until the cheque has cleared into our bank account.

Shipping and Handling:-
All purchases do not include postage and handling to the United Kingdom only. Purchases to outside the United Kingdom are charged at cost and we strongly recommend you contact us to make the arrangements directly. All import taxes/charges to your country at the buyer’s responsibility.

How it works:- As of 16th February 2020 
Bowaters Models operates a batch production system. We aim to get all kits to our customers in 3-4 weeks from the date of ordering for rolling stock and 4-6 weeks from the date of ordering for Motive Power. If we have to delay your product either through a production delay or a quality control issue, you will be contacted and given the option to either continue with your order or cancel it. Please note, an admin fee of 10% of your order’s value (which will be no greater than £50 GBP) will be deducted from any cancellation to cover administration costs involved in your order. This does not apply if only part of the order is cancelled. This does also apply should a product be returned to us. Please note, payment in full is required for your order to be processed. This is because your order is produced to order and we don’t hold any kits in stock as a general rule. Because your kit is cut to order, from the point production starts, no refunds can be given unless proven to be faulty. From time to time, we may have kits in stock which will be listed on our website under the ‘Available now’ page for you to purchase found here:- https://shop.bowatersmodels.co.uk/collections/available-now.

In the event of custom work being cancelled, then 25% of the orders value will be deducted to cover the additional time and effort that went into creating your custom product for you.

Special Note:- Effective 01/09/2018, we are able to produce our kits in plywood as a standard option. However, plywood costs more to produce your kit in than the standard MDF. As such, there is an increased price per kit for the use of Plywood. This adds £15 per kit depending on which one you choose. 

Spare Parts - We will only provide Spare Parts free of charge to the original purchaser of the kit alongside any replacements if the part is damaged in shipping. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If you have received your kit as a gift, please include the original purchaser in your request so we can track the order appropriately. All other spare parts/any replacement parts (such as those not broken during shipping) requests will be at cost plus postage.

Payment Security:-
All payments for Bowaters Models are handled by shopify/paypal (if ordering through our webstore) or iZettle (if ordering at a show). Bowaters Models does not receive any payment information from either of these companies, only the e-mail address used to make the order.

Customer Guarantee:-
Bowaters Models takes pride in providing a top level service to our customers. If you have any issues with your order, please get in touch and we will be able to assist with any queries that you have. This can be anything from questions during the construction of your kit to queries regarding our upcoming products.

Support Policy:-
Bowaters Models offers a Lifetime support of any product ordered from us. This means no matter when you ordered the kit, you will be able to receive support and if needed spare parts for your models. Please note, spare parts are only available to the original purchaser of the kit and are not available after resale. Any kit support requests will be checked against our records to validate that you bought the kit so the appropriate level of support can be offered to you.
