The full size Turbot ballast wagon is an all steel bogie vehicle for use on permanent way maintenance trains. It is designed so that ballast can be loaded in and out with mechanical diggers, without damage to the wagon. It is a familiar sight on this sort of work throughout the British railway system.
Our 5” gauge model is built in a similar vein with a steel chassis and body. Using folded steel sections means that it is robust without being unduly heavy. At 20 kg it can be lifted on and off the track by a single person. It comes equipped with two of our well tried “easy-glide” bogies and can be fitted with a brake system on all wheels (as an optional extra, please request braked bogies at time of order).
Two seats are supplied in the standard wagon, other seats can be fitted, box or bench type for up to four people.
